Lights, Camera, Bullshit!
We got lucky and stumbled onto another great location. Our crew was shooting a EXT. scene downtown at the corner of Wagner and Vance when a nice lady named Kitty peered out from her place of business and inquired about what we were doing. This was a cold day. Almost thirty of us were going to have to stand in the freezing weather for eight more hours to get the work of the day done. This gracious woman saw our limited accommodations (frozen extras) and told us we could move our lunch inside her building to get warm. She then let our largest cast and crew for the shoot (33 members) duck in and out of her printing press between takes for the rest of the day. This was a vast differences in our shoot from the week prior, when we had a gun pulled on us for knocking on the wrong door. While getting to know Kitty she overheard that we were looking for another location for the following week. A warehouse/type location. She immediately let us know that we could use the extra space in her very large and beautifully historic building in downtown, Memphis, Tn. For no charge at all we ended up with an awesome location from a kind stranger. This is a cell pic i took of the interior of that location. These are the moments that keep independent filmmakers encouraged and inspired.
Thanks, Kitty
