When I talk about recreating the spirit of that world, the music is as important as the dialogue and the behavior. From 1947 on, music scored what was happening in the streets, the back rooms. And it affected, sometimes, the behavior of the people, because this music was playing in the streets. Jukeboxes were brought out during the summer. Windows were open, and you could hear what everybody else was listening to. It expresses the excitement of the time. Simply, it’s the way I saw life. The way I experienced life. - Martin Scorsese.

“It made me sick to watch those businessmen applaud Welles during the 1975 AFI tribute, when you know that the next day if he asked any one of them for money, they’d say, ‘We’ll let you know.’” - John Cassavetes.
I like for posts to conflict with each other.

“You have to question a cinematic culture which preaches artistic expression, and yet would support a decision that is clearly a product of a patriarchy-dominant society, which tries to control how women are depicted on screen. The MPAA is okay supporting scenes that portray women in scenarios of sexual torture and violence for entertainment purposes, but they are trying to force us to look away from a scene that shows a woman in a sexual scenario which is both complicit and complex. It’s misogynistic in nature to try and control a woman’s sexual presentation of self. I consider this an issue that is bigger than this film.”

A short film in 9 frames
The short film I directed last summer (‘12). Pulled some stills from the footage. I mainly post these so I don’t lose them. Or for two or three people that I actually know on here that ask me to put up stills from shoots. We’re building a better tumblr site for Piano Man Pictures. So this really is now just my personal photo album and blog. (I hate the word blog) blerg..

I sent a slightly emotional tweet to Patton Oswalt to thanks him for his book. A book that belonged to a loved one that took her own life. I didn't bring that fact up. I did let him know that Amanda Holcomb was not around anymore. I just wanted to say thank you for his work and to tell him that we appreciate what he does. He did not message me, i was not soliciting that type of response. I just felt the need to tell him what i was feeling. He responded by "starring", or showing favor to my tweet. And that small response meant the world to me. And that type of appreciation in times of stress speaks volumes about our authors and statesmen. To that I say, Metalface Glory to the gods of technology and awareness go us all.
